It's only February, but I want to get this event on your calendars now-- so mark your personal calendars for Saturday, April 25. Spring will have sprung and azaleas and dogwoods will be everywhere as we make our way to Capt. Billy's Crab House in Popes Creek, MD.
A LITTLE HISTORY: In the early '90s CCR cruised to Capt. George's in Williamsburg. We had a great time, sothe next year we invited Aquia Creek Corvette Club (ACCC) to join us. Instead, they invited us along with several other Corvette clubs to their Crab Cruise event in Popes Creek, MD scheduled for the Saturday after the April 15 tax deadline. Our club was tiny and for the first few years CCR only had 4 - 6 cars participate. Joining ACCC's big caravan of Corvettes from all over Virginia was thrilling! When ACCC changed their event from Saturday to Sunday, Dave and I started the CCR eventand kept it the Saturday after Tax Day.
This is a really easy caravan. Whether you’re looking out your side windows at the gorgeous spring scenery or looking at the row of Vettes in front of and behind you—your view will be fabulous! We won't have a formal caravan for the way home, so you can head home anytime you want. Lots of us stop at Hornes in Port Royal on the way home, so save some room for ice cream!
DETAILS: We’ll meet at 1:15 pm behind the Burger King at 9178 Chamberlayne Road (Route 301) & Atlee Station Road. We’ll take roll, sell some 50/50 tickets, have a brief drivers’ meeting and depart at 1:30. Since this is a rain or shine event, if the weather is bad or you’re bringing guests, feel free to drive your OTC (Other Than Corvette). OTCs are fine…they just have to be at the back of our caravan!! Don’t forget your nametags and, if you’ve got a Club Radio, bring it.
