Compass Church Event

September 21,2025

Time 7:30AM-12 PM

OD BettyAnn Moriarty

This is not a CCR sponsored event but we have participated in this event for the past 4 years. One because it is a great event and two it raises money for kids in need. This year's recipients are highlighted below. The event is free, but donations are welcomed. 100% of the donations goes to the kids.

We will meet at the Lowes on Mechanicsville Turnpike (6425 Mechanicsville Tpke) at 7:15 on Sunday September 21st and cruise a short distance down Rte. 360 to the Church. They will try to park together. It is important that you register for this event so the Chruch will know how many parking spaces to save for us. The event starts early and is over around noon with lunch provided.

it's a great event for a great cause.

John Paul Macri

John Paul is a special 9 year old boy from Chesterfield, VA. In March of 2025, he was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. The local options available to John Paul all had bleak outcomes, leaving the Macri family praying for alternatives. Thankfully, John Paul was able to qualify for a cutting edge CAR-T cell clinical trial in Seattle, WA. They began collecting his t-cells this Summer and he will then receive infusions every four weeks for the unforeseeable future. This trial comes with a heavy financial burden due to long-term lodging, airfare, etc. but with a hopeful outcome to actually shrink his tumor.

Colson Barlow

Colson is an almost 2 year old boy from King William, VA. He was born with stage 4 chronic kidney disease, with 0% function in his right kidney, and limited function in his left. He also has a very rare genetic disorder called 4p Inverted Duplication Deletion Syndrome—half Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome, half Trisomy 4p. This condition impacts his ability to grow and due to his short stature he is not eligible for kidney transplant or dialysis. Colson’s diagnosis brings new challenges as he grows with increased seizures, infections, and consistent monitoring of his kidney function.  The Barlow family is trusting in God and thankful for the blessing of each day with Colson.
